LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Clean energy is a feel-good story

I used to work in oil and gas drilling, but now I’m happier because I’m working in clean energy.

Clean energy has changed my life. A few years ago, I was drilling water wells for oil and gas sites, often on some secluded ranch, away from my family and friends. My quality of life wasn’t good, and I was looking for a change.

Today, I’m a solar installer. I work close to home in my own community. I love what I do, and I get to spend more time with my family.

There can be a lot of misinformation about solar. But I know the clean energy transition firsthand. And it is the better place to be.

Even better, Nevada’s clean energy workforce is growing. President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act is investing $2.7 billion to support Nevada’s clean energy economy, adding thousands of jobs for people looking to make the switch.

Working in solar has changed thousands of workers’ lives for the better. That’s worth celebrating.
