Candidates driven by money

The April 22 story “Trump ponders VP choices: Can they help raise cash?” says it all about politics in the United States. Now more than ever, it’s all about the money for both parties.

Since the 1960 Nixon-Kennedy debate, when television replaced the whistle-stop campaign train, the costs of running for federal or state elected office have at least quadrupled.

This raises the question: Are candidates’ policy statements what they really do believe; or what their major donors want to hear?
