Democrats are the party of freedom

On the third day of its national convention, the Democratic Party asked its members to define freedom, especially American freedom.

Why was that question not asked during the Republican convention? The Republican vision does not have room for this query, as it has been too engrossed in what we can’t do, or should not do.

We can’t choose to decide for ourselves the size of our families. We can’t choose for ourselves which books we want to read. We can’t choose to decide who to love or even which gender we see ourselves as. We can’t choose to make sure our air is clean and healthy.

Instead of seeking freedom and making our dream even stronger, the leader of the Republican Party is telling us that America is worthless.

The dream of American freedom was found in a young girl in California who grew up the child of an immigrant Indian lady and an immigrant Jamaican father — a young girl who may soon become the first female U.S. president.

Right now, American freedom is being represented by the women of this country who are shouting “We won’t go back.”
