Letter to the Editor:

No denying ties to Project 2025

Over the past couple of years, the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank has been running a presidential transition project called “Project 2025,” a 900-page “policy bible” detailing a game plan for how the next Republican president should curb the First Amendment, roll back gay rights, infuse Christianity in more state functions, repeal climate and environmental protections, and limit reproductive care and health care more broadly.

It also disembowels much of the federal government and concentrates more power in the hands of the president.

On July 5, former President Donald Trump claimed he knows nothing about Project 2025 or who is behind it. The Heritage Foundation has been in existence since 1973 and is a research and educational system whose mission is to build and promote conservative public policies. Trump has been the leader of the Republican Party since 2016.

Being a congenital liar, the mere fact that Trump claims to know nothing about Project 2025 undoubtedly suggests otherwise. Further, what does not bode well is that while Trump was a neophyte in his first presidency and therefore unable to implement his policies, he will undoubtedly be better prepared to implement the horrible policies of Project 2025 in another term.

We must defeat Trump.
