Letter to the Editor:

Corporate greed has no limit

When I worked as a tour guide from 2005 to 2020, it was required that we gas up our vehicles daily.

Seeing the price of gas increase over time was a constant subject of discussion. There was always some explanation from the industry why it was necessary.

In March 2020, our company suspended business because of the pandemic. At that time, gas was $3.85 per gallon. The eventual shutdown created a situation where the demand for gas went down, and so did the price.

Through forgiven PPP loans, billions of government dollars bailed out oil companies, who cried poor. After vaccines reopened the country, the demand went up and so did prices. Record profits for gas companies followed at the expense of all of us.

There seems to be no way to rein in corporate greed. It is also a global problem.
