Letter to the Editor:

The rule of law will prevail

Some things are quite predictable. When law enforcement agencies have been doing their jobs, usually quite unobtrusively, following their mandate to protect the public’s interest, operating without fear or favor, examining facts, documentation and evidence as it becomes available, lawbreakers eventually face justice.

The justice system will ultimately prevail against offenders no matter how clever, connected or powerful, and the courts are set up to guarantee a high degree of consistency, reliability and predictability. Crime, especially when organized by corrupt officials, may be tolerated, and may persist for far too long; however it does not pay over the long term.

Our system works amazingly efficiently. The people will have their day in court.

It was predictable, as well, that our president would come out swinging with potency and effectiveness against the people and organized fascists attacking him and our system of democratic governance. Those who have had their eyes open and who were not deluded or willfully ignorant were not surprised to see that the man in the White House who was falsely portrayed as old and feeble was in truth the one with strength, competence, energy and power.

The many court cases against the former president will weigh heavily on him and will terminate in his demise. Decency and truth will eventually prevail. Yet, as hopeful as we are as we finally see the wheels of justice turning, we must recognize that those who oppose freedom and democracy will not disappear by any means.
