Letter to the Editor:

Reflect on Easter’s meaning

Soon we will celebrate Easter, a time of joy for many practicing Christians. Current trends show that all religions are seeing reductions in their pews. This is primarily due to the many who have renounced their religious beliefs and are now being counted as “none.”

In past years, Catholic churches and other Christian churches were full with standing room only on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Presently, they mostly resemble a regular weekend service.

These days, Easter is celebrated with Easter egg hunts, family gatherings and dining out without any reference to the religious meaning of the holiday. The return to a new revival in our faith is highly unlikely, as sporting events, gyms and outdoor exercising are a few other aspects of life that have replaced religious beliefs.

For those who still believe, enjoy the very early Easter this year and relish in old traditions.
