I am a 91-year-old grumpy person who has lived in Las Vegas for over 50 years.
And I am disgusted over what my city has become.
We want to be a No. 1 sports town while we are 49th in education (thank you, Mississippi).
We are about to build a stadium on a street that is already a traffic jam. We are building a high-speed train from California to enrich the hotels and casinos, so why aren’t they paying for it?
I have been in museums in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago — all cultural. Here we have the Mob Museum, the atomic bomb museum and the Neon Museum.
Our elected officials said yes to a race that caused traffic jams for months without figuring out how it affected the residents and our workforce.
We have a school district that should be broken up in to three.
If I go on a staycation at a hotel and pay over $200 a night, I have to ask for them to make up my room.
What percentage of our residents can afford to go to a Golden Knights or Raiders game? Why not put aside some affordable tickets for locals?
We keep putting up bigger hotels while our water supply is dwindling.
I have to drive 100 miles round trip to buy a lottery ticket that benefits California.
The best thing about being 91 is that I won’t be around much longer to see this place get any more messed up.
