Letter to the Editor:

Choose calm instead of chaos

Despite the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and its devastating impact upon the economy worldwide at that time, the U.S. has returned to its pre-pandemic trend, and our economy is the envy of the world.

As president, Donald Trump’s tariffs on imported goods caused the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and increased consumer prices. His proposal to add 10-20% tariffs on imported goods, experts say, would be passed along to the consumer, at a cost of about $4,000 per family annually.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ economic plan aims at reducing the costs of housing, groceries, child care and prescription drugs, with corporations and billionaires contributing more of their fair share.

Economics aside, the daily chaos that Trump promotes domestically and internationally is a far greater danger to world peace and domestic order. The calm of Harris seems a better bet.
