Hundreds of students, dozens of thorny issues, one enduring quality: Mutual respect

Nearly 1,000 Las Vegas high school students gathered this week at the 57th annual Las Vegas Sun Youth Forum to discuss hot-button issues such as abortion and gay marriage. About the Youth Forum

In 1955, Las Vegas Sun founder Hank Greenspun approached his newspaper’s staff with a concept to gather students and have them debate topics that interested them. More than 50 years later, Greenspun’s mission is still going strong. Many former participants have gone on to be community leaders, including Sen. Harry Reid and Former Rep. Shelley Berkley.
