LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Court decisions are dividing us

Our nation started with states wanting their own postage, currency and rules. James Madison and others felt we would be better off and stronger if we were the United States of America. We may soon just be called the States of America.

The Supreme Court ruled against a law in New York, in place more than a century, that required notification if one wanted to carry a firearm in public. The Supremes don’t have to worry about that. Taxpayers pay for their protection from all the firearms they want turned loose.

The court has let each state decide how it will set laws regarding abortions. Several states want to stop all abortions immediately. Soon, a woman will not be able to order pills through the United States mail (whoops, States mail). There are 13 sets of various rules for 12 to 47 states. Some don’t permit women to cross state lines to receive an abortion.

Several climatologists have said, “Let’s no longer call it climate change, let’s call it what it really is: global warming.” Apparently, people at the Environmental Protection Agency aren’t considered expert enough to help stop us from reaching the point of no return with global warming. The court insists that Congress should handle this.

Up next The court will rule that state legislators can decide how we voted.
