letter to the editor:

POW has earned some compassion

As a retired military person, I listen to several commentators from an alleged fair and balanced network spewing all kind of vile comments concerning the recently released prisoner of war by the Taliban, and it makes me sick to my stomach.

Without any firm data concerning Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, they have chosen to tar and feather this American fighting man. No compassion whatsoever.

These armchair generals who have never been in a danger zone have the audacity to question his integrity without any foundation. This is not only disgusting but extremely repulsive.

America promised to not leave anyone behind, dead or alive, and yet these slugs, primarily speaking for political reasons, show other active military personnel that they speak with forked tongue. That is to say, “if we have to release some Taliban to get you home safely then you are up the creek without a paddle if you should somehow become a POW.”

If, after an investigation, Bergdahl proves to have violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice, then take the appropriate action, don’t suggest it’s better to let him die in a Taliban hole somewhere because you think a released terrorist may or may not return to the battlefield.

A little background: George Bush and Dick Cheney released 540 so-called terrorists from Gitmo and some did return to the battlefield. We heard not one peep out of the bubble people. Could this be a large case of hypocrisy?
