LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

GOP is no friend of middle class

Republicans are at it again. First, they give huge, permanent tax cuts to corporations that are their biggest donors. Then they alter the “death tax,” allowing the wealthy to pass on more riches to their families who pay no taxes on their inheritances.

That’s how Republicans create dynasties. Those are people who never have to work; they just let their money work for them. Then the Republican administrations give more tax loophole opportunities to the wealthy, who also are the Republicans biggest donors.

Republicans referred to tax breaks for the middle class as huge, but it turns out they are only for some in the middle class, and the cuts are puny and temporary. Republicans said the corporations would give big raises to their employees from their new found profits through tax cuts, but that was another big lie. There were a few one-time bonuses for publicity purposes, but no reports of big raises for all employees.

Now, to lower the deficit that was exacerbated by their tax cuts, the House is ready to bring a bill to the floor cutting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security benefits. Why do middle-class people have to give up our hard-earned money and benefits for those monies to be given to the wealthy and corporations?
